Frequently Asked Questions

What is expected of me as a mentor?
Give a few hours, a day, or several days a year. We are open and flexible to your schedule. We are also flexible in how you communicate with our startups; phone, email or in person meetings are all acceptable. Ongoing mentoring can also be arranged if both the startup and mentor determine it to be beneficial. The frequency of engagement, the amount of time dedicated, and the structure of the conversations are left to the meeting attendees.
Is there a way to provide virtual mentor sessions?
Yes, mentoring could be done at a distance.
What happens when I become a mentor?
  • Your mentor profile information is posted internally.
  • The lead coordinator works with you to pair you to teams.
  • Engage with the team via phone/Skype/Slack/in person or at a mentoring event.
How does the Lewis Innovation Hub prepare teams to work with experts?
Innovation Hub entrepreneurs are trained to honor your time, approach you with clear objectives, provide you with updates as needed, and respect your commitment. We also highly suggest sticking to these 18 Keys to Engaging Mentors and Advisors from the Unreasonable Institute.
